The Journey
Showstopper was born in 2023 as just a concept—a spark of an idea that quickly became something much bigger. From the very beginning, Natalie knew this film would be more than just a script; it would be a passion project where she would pour every part of herself into the process. She didn’t just write the film—she produced it, composed the music, directed it, and stepped into the lead role, determined to bring her vision to life exactly as she imagined.
Over nine months, Showstopper took shape. Pre-production unfolded while Natalie completed her Master of Screen Production at Griffith Film School in Brisbane, balancing intense study with the demands of independent filmmaking. The shoot spanned nine days, followed by two pickup days to refine key moments. After four months of post-production, the film premiered in September 2024 at Event Cinemas Kawana. Nearly 200 people filled the theatre, including major producers and actors from the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast industry. Seeing her work come to life on the big screen was an unforgettable milestone.
But the journey didn’t end there. Taking in valuable feedback, Natalie returned to the editing room, refining Showstopper into its strongest version yet. Now, this deeply personal project is set to make its mark on the festival circuit in March 2025—proving that with passion, persistence, and a bold vision, an idea can become something extraordinary.
