The Journey
Natalie and Brigitte, co-producers of I Am Woman, first met while studying acting at the Queensland Conservatorium. Brigitte had the idea for a story that would spotlight the everyday struggles of everyday women—raw, honest, and deeply relatable. What began as a simple concept evolved into a 30-minute play, featuring five women navigating life’s challenges. I Am Woman made its debut at the Wynnum Fringe Festival in 2020, resonating with audiences through its authenticity and heart.
Following its successful debut, the creative team reunited the next year with an even bigger vision. The story expanded to follow nine women, all connected by a court case—not focusing on the case itself, but on the women surrounding it. Their struggles, triumphs, and complexities made them real, multidimensional, and deeply woman.
In 2021, I Am Woman took the stage at the Anywhere Theatre Festival. Across two weekends, over 500 audience members experienced the raw emotion and power of the production. The show was a hit—well-received for its honest portrayal of womanhood and the stories that often go unheard.

"'I am Woman, Hear Me' is a collection of monologues, painting the picture of nine women, each of them a walking contradiction. In the height of the 5th wave of feminism, it celebrated the vices and virtues of the 'every woman'. As the writer and director of I am Woman, Hear me, it was truly a luxury having Natalie Ferris not only as an actor on the project, but also as my co-producer. Natalie gets the job done with care, precision, and punctuality. She leaves no stone unturned, and is very clued into the who's and what's of contemporary arts. As both a dear friend, and a colleague, I hold Natalie in the highest regard and would recomend her to anyone wishing to make magic happen."
